History of the Rich. Müller Foundation
A legacy of vision, responsibility, and long-term growth
The Rich. Müller Foundation was established to secure the long-term future of Rich. Müller A/S and its affiliated companies, now known as the RMIG Group, while also supporting broader societal interests. This vision was set in motion by Ernst and Elida Müller, who created the Foundation in December 1965 and transferred the majority shareholding to it.
Like his father, Richard Müller, founder of the company named after him, Ernst was an enterprising and visionary businessman who understood the importance of investing in the future. Taking on company leadership at just 26, he ensured the continued success of the company while upholding his father’s core principles: avoiding debt, acting with integrity, and pursuing measured growth.
For more than two decades after its founding, the Foundation’s board of trustees was composed primarily of family members, with Ole Müller serving as the last. Since 1986, the board has consisted of a forward-thinking and dynamic group of professionals from Danish industry.
In 1987, the Foundation partnered with FLSmidth to support further growth, making them joint owners of the RMIG Group. Following a decade of successful acquisitions and development, both the Foundation and the Group strengthened their positions, leading to the full buyback of shares in 2001.
Today, the Foundation’s charter and goals continue to reflect the core values of Ernst and Elida Müller, specifically the commitment to securing the long-term future of the RMIG Group while giving back to society.
